Hi, I’m Liza Fishbone.

I’m an artist, designer, and founder of Sneaky Planet Studios based in Austin, TX.

My influences include nature, fairy tales, old architecture, Japanese yōkai, surrealism, and wobbly foods. My artwork combines elements of nature, characters, and fantasy to transform ordinary spaces into places of magic.

Growing up in St. Louis, surrounded by painters, musicians, and storytellers, taught me the importance of public art and introduced me to a world of thinking big. From a young age, I learned to paint by climbing the scaffolding alongside my parents as they created murals. I went on to study Fashion Design at Syracuse University (Go Orange!) and it was there that I began cultivating a multidisciplinary practice. In 2015, I teamed up with my father, Robert Fishbone, as part of On The Wall Productions, our family’s mural company founded in 1974, to restore decades-old murals and make new ones. Besides making murals, I work in event production and fabrication, designing and making decor and scenic treatments for music festivals and events, immersive experiences, and brand activations.

In 2014, I founded Sneaky Planet Studios. and started creating The Sneaky Planet Universe, a mind-bending world-building project with whimsical characters, fantastical environments, and mythical lore. Over the years, it’s been brought to life through immersive installations, performance, and story telling.

I am also a member of CHALK R!OT, an all-female pavement art crew dedicated to creating accessible art on streets worldwide, and a collaborator with Almost Real Things on events, activations, and all-around silliness.

When I’m not making art, I spend my time cooking, making playlists, and binge-watching bad reality shows. I have also been known to pop up in a Pikachu costume and dance in a crowd.
